Substantive editing

After assessing your manuscript, I can help improve it by:
  • Ensuring that the claims made are supported by the evidence provided
  • Shortening
  • Writing a brief summary
  • Reorganising
  • Changing data in the text to a table
  • Suggesting additional figures or tables
Substantive editing is often called 'developmental editing' or 'content editing'. It does not include writing text from scratch; however, writing a sentence or two can be included.

After substantive editing, or if the manuscript assessment shows that no substantive editing is necessary, I can also provide copyediting.
